FLIP N FIGURES™ provides educators and families with lean, high-impact tools that prioritize peer-to-peer learning.
The Protégé Method
The Protégé Method is a collaborative learning strategy where the best way to master a subject is to teach it to someone else. Instead of a traditional 'teacher-to-student' lecture, it flips the script:
- The Learner becomes the Leader: A student who understands a concept (the 'Mentor') guides a peer who is still practicing (the 'Protégé').
- Deep Mastery: By explaining the 'why' behind a math fact or strategy, the Mentor internalizes the information more deeply than they ever could through a worksheet.
- Social-Emotional Growth: It creates a 'Leadership Zone' where students learn patience, respect, and empathy. The goal isn't to be the fastest to finish, but to ensure the whole team reaches the 'Aha!' moment together.
What Our Customers Are Saying
Fun, quick game. It's more fun than traditional flash cards! No confusion, really. The first time was a little iffy, but they got the hang of it quickly! It was nice to see all the students helping the ones who struggled.
Enjoyable to the students and a good resource to have for early finishers or during WIN time as a good, educational activity. Students noticing fact families on their own while playing was a breakthrough moment!
The game was a hit with both my kids. Benjamin mentioned how cool the packaging was and said 'I'm gonna cook this!' I couldn't get the plastic open quick enough. Overall there was lots of excitement and they were anxious to get us adults playing with them. Great idea - perfect for elementary school!
Lilly Ivens I was introduced to FLIP N FIGURES™ last year when Mr. Johnson donated two copies of the game to my Kindergarten classroom. I kept one deck for myself and gave the other set of cards to our Math Enrichment teacher. This game was a hit with both students and teachers. It was a great way to differentiate computation in the classroom. I was able to challenge some of my students who had already mastered addition to 10. The students loved playing this game and stayed engaged the whole time. It also promoted teamwork as students would work together to solve the addition problems and decide who had the higher sum. It has been a great addition to my classroom.
